2010
Edition:
Volume:
Issue:
Abstract:
From the back cover:"The Studio Reader pulls back the curtain to reveal the activities behind artistic production. What does it mean to be in the studio? What is the space of the studio in the artist's practice? How do studios help artists envision their agency and, beyond that, their entire lives? This forward-thinking anthology brings together artists, curators, each of whom locates the studio both spatially and conceptually at the center of an art world that increasingly crosses institutions, markets, and disciplines."

The Archive: News from The Green Lantern

Catalog Number:
z.81.3
Date:
January/February 2007
Volume:
Vol. 2, No. 4
Abstract:
Words and art from current exhibitions at the Green Lantern Gallery, artist and curatorial statements, upcoming events, guest pieces from other "culture workers" as well as text pieces based loosely around the theme of the current exhibition in collaboration with the artist. "In this issue, we will focus on the idea of relationships, primarily explored through the work of Katie Kelly and Bill Morocco... Inspired by the last exhibit, 'HOT MESS,' featuring collaborative work by Caleb Lyons and Peter Hoffman, the subject of relationships, business, casual, friendly, unfriendly, invariably comes up... HOT MESS is an apt metaphor for any aspect of life, for it is true that while a person does not live literally alone, a person does not have any real path to follow when constructing and maintaining relationships."
Catalog Number:
o.1
Date:
2004
Volume:
unknown
Abstract:

From the project's website: A ravioli is a FREE, clear, water-proof, 12"x12" plastic packetfilled with original artworks and random materials submitted by contributors and artistsfrom all over the country. Any given ravioli contains an assortment of items or ingredients, ranging in media, intent, content, production level, and relation to one another. Items included may be practical, attempt to engage the participant in an activity or thought process, or may simply intend to amuse.

The project brings together a range of items, artistic and non-artistic, from a range of sources, and puts all the materials back out in public without definitions, restrictions or explanation. There is no right answer. There is no wrong action. A passer-by may choose to view the packet as garbage and throw it away. She might open it and pick out things that interest her. She might take the whole thing home with her to show her family or her friends.

There is no hidden agenda. There is no theme. There is no expected outcome.

Contains CD.
