Paint & Polish Book Release @ Reunion

Photographer Helen Maurene Cooper celebrates the creativity of Chicago’s nail art community and the release of her new book Paint & Polish: Cultural Economy and Visual Culture from the West Side (Onomatopee, 2017). Following a social cocktail hour, Cooper and West Side nail artists Jackee Blue, Glynnus Alexander and Yara Fernandez will reveal the story behind Paint & Polish in a discussion moderated by contributing essayists Ryan Blocker and Roula Seikaly.
Finally, the collaborators will sign books and serve slices of cake from Chicago’s legendary Roeser’s Bakery. This event, free and open to the public, is co-sponsored by Threewalls and the Read/Write Library.
Glynnus, Yara and Helen Maurene Cooper will travel to the Netherlands this summer for a solo exhibition at Onompatopee in Eindhoven.
