Event Date:
Saturday, November 4, 2017 - 6:00pm

Location

Krasl Art Center
707 Lake Blvd.
49085 St. Joseph , MI

Read/Write Library travels to St. Joseph/Benton Harbor, Michigan, for our first-ever Pop Up Library outside of Illinois in conjunction with the Krasl Art Center's exhibition "The Art Next Door: Chicago's Exemplars" curated by Tami Miller.

"Chicago, just 100 miles west and one large lake expanse from the Krasl Art Center, is home to a bevy of contemporary artists who are creating provocative work, exhibiting worldwide and participating in critical dialogues about art and the world as we see it. This exhibition highlights artists both known and emerging, including Dawoud Bey, Michelle Grabner, the Homan Square Project, Read/Write Library, Aram Han Sifuentes, Tony Tasset, and Sadie Woods. Art on view ranges from painting, photography and sculpture to sound, installation and social practices."

Grassroots Research Workshop with Read/Write Library Chicago

Read/Write Library recognizes that individuals write the history of their community best. Participate in this free, two-part workshop and identify the local experts in your neighborhood, evaluate who is responsible for the historical record, and discover ways to share and contribute to that record through creative expression.

Workshops took place at the Benton Harbor Public Library and at the Krasl Art Center in St. Joseph.
