Joseph Garlock was born in 1884 outside of Minsk, Russia. His subject matter reflects a special bridge between turn-of-the-century Russia and post-World War II America.
Rachel Whiteread is regarded as one of the most promising young British sculptors working today. She has been influenced by British sculptors of the 1980s, who believed the discarded goods of consumer society were fitting cultural material for sculpture.
