Que Ondee Sola was established in 1972 and remains the oldest Puerto Rican & Latina/o university student publication in the United States. Our mission is to provide the Northeastern Illinois University community with a relevant and engaging publication that deals with student issues with a focus on Puerto Rican and Latinas/os, our communities, and our patrias.

Includes short biographies of prisoners: Edwin Cortes, Elizam Escobar, Albert Rodríguez, Alejandrina Torres, Adolfo Matos, Antonio Camacho Negrón, Alica Rodríguez, Ricard Jiminez, Juan Segarra Palmer, Carlos Alberto Torres, Carmen Valentín, Luís Rosa, Óscar Lopez Rivera, Dylcia Pagán, Ida Luz Rodríguez. Most were born in or lived in Chicago.

Articles on current events and politics, including items covering third-party candidates, an effort to unionize temp workers in the private sector, Mexican opposition to the Institutional Revolutionary Party, prison cutbacks, and high school female wrestling.

This year-end double issue focuses on the coming presidency of George W. Bush, including questions about disenfranchisement of African Americans in the 2000 Presidential Elections, the Bush Cabinet, and the Supreme Court. Other features include a look at the failing peace process in Columbia and new president of Syria, Assad Bashar.

The Redmoon Dramagirls use art and performance to celebrate middle school girls. We believe that performing powerful actions (such as stitlt-walking, drumming, and acting) creates powerful girls. Through supportive relationships, safe environments, challenging training, and public performance, the proram offers a safe environment for girls to investigate and create original works of theater that express the truth of their lives.<br />

David's new book brings together city poems from many sources, including folders on David's desk. John provides a generous introduction, and the illustrations combine the murals and paintings of Gamaliel Ramirez with photos of other art works and urban icons by Wayne Allen Jones, designer and typesetter of the book. This set brings together the poems that were the basis for the 1991 radio show in which John and David exchanged poems fueling the debate and ironic views of the dialectic between Chicago and its suburbs.
